Language
Palma de Mallorca is a multicultural city when you can hear many languages. This is because of its popularity with tourists. There are two official languages in Majorca and the rest of the Balearics: Catalan and Spanish.

Currency
Majorca's official currency is the euro, as in the other European Union countries that are part of the Monetary Union. If you need to change money, you can do so in banks in the city or in the bureaux de change located in the centre of the city and in tourist zones.

Electricity
The electricity supply is 220 volts.

Making phone calls (to and from Spain)

Banks
April to September: 09:00 to 14:00 from Monday to Friday. October to March: from 09:00 to 14:00 from Monday to Friday and 09:00 to 13:30 on Saturdays.

Shops
There is a wide range of opening hours for shops. Normal opening hours are from 10:00 to 20:00. Some shops close at lunch time. Large shopping centres might close later, between 21:00 and 22:00. Palma's historical centre has been declared a Major Tourist Area, meaning that shops in the area can open on Sundays. Sunday is a good day for strolling around the city centre and doing some shopping, as most shops are open.

HealthPalma has two public hospitals (Son Espases and Son Llàtzer) as well as a large number of health centres that specialise in primary health care (www.ibsalut.es)As well as this public health infrastructure, Palma also has a wide range of private clinics.
