Sant Carles, Historical and Military Museum

In the first months of 1600 members of the merchants' association started to discuss the need to build a fort to protect the port of Palma to the west, in the area of what was an old Roman port called Porto Pi. In 1610 it appears that construction finally started in the chosen location. Construction was finally completed in 1612. It appears that it was given the name San Carlos because the Viceroy  at the time of the first attempts to build it was don Carlos Coloma, Marquis of Espinar. In 1981 it was turned into a military museum. Defensive fortification of the mole of Portopí, constructed in the 17th century, and a military museum displaying war and military items from the middle ages until the 20th century.
